For Inclusive Manufacturing Workplaces
Learning Styles
Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) has launched the “Supporting Learning Differences” initiative, a national program aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Canadian manufacturing sector to support employees with diverse learning needs. Recognizing that individuals learn differently due to factors such as age, language, essential skill levels, learning disabilities, and neurodivergence, this initiative seeks to provide both employers and employees with tailored resources and strategies to improve training performance and workplace outcomes.
Supporting Learning Differences: EMC’s Initiative to Empower Inclusive Manufacturing Workplaces
Key Objectives of the Initiative:

Research and Understanding: Conduct comprehensive research to understand the scope of learning differences within the manufacturing sector and identify unique challenges faced by employers and employees.
-
Customized Support for Employees: Offer tools and supports to manufacturing employees to help them excel in foundational skills development through innovative approaches that identify and address learning differences.
-
Resources for Employers: Provide employers with access to a toolkit of industry-validated resources designed to create equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplaces.
Available Resources and Programs:
-
Learning Differences Toolkit: An industry-validated resource to help employers implement effective strategies to improve training performance and outcomes in the workplace.

Up to 100 employees in EMC’s training sessions can participate and receive valuable tools and resources.
-
VLS Personalized Support: EMC is also piloting VLS Canada’s personalized support services for 25 selected participants.
