BDC and EMC are partnering to create more opportunities in the manufacturing sector.
MONTREAL, September 12, 2024 - BDC, Canada's bank for entrepreneurs, announced today a new partnership with Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC), a grassroots organization directly supporting the success of more than 18,000 engaged manufacturing companies and their 700,000+ employees. EMC will showcase its Regional Consortiums, Learning Centre, and many events and in-person plant tours which help connect manufacturers and promote best practice sharing. They will also profile their growing green and sustainable manufacturing initiatives, national GreenMFG Network and industry benchmarking resources.
Engaging both BDC and EMC sector audiences, a national webinar – Economic Outlook – will take place on September 26 where Pierre Cléroux, Vice President, Research and Chief Economist at BDC, will speak about the state of our economy and how manufacturing in Canada is evolving. EMC President, Jean-Pierre (JP) Giroux will share a manufacturing perspective, speaking on the issues affecting manufacturing and solutions being deployed.
“Manufacturing represents more than 10% of Canada's total GDP, it’s an industry that is absolutely key to a growing Canadian economy,” says Véronique Dorval, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BDC. “This partnership will lead to more opportunities for entrepreneurs to learn from one another and to grow their business. EMC has a proven track record of delivering impact to manufacturers across the country and they share our value of being united for entrepreneurs.”
“The collaboration between BDC and EMC is enabling greater access to the resources, expertise, and connections that manufacturers need to thrive,” says Jean-Pierre (JP) Giroux, President of EMC. “By working together, we’re not just helping industry to build stronger businesses, but also to foster innovation and resilience across the entire Canadian manufacturing landscape. EMC is excited to grow our collaboration with BDC, as we expand support for Canada’s manufacturers to create sustainable growth and global competitiveness sector wide.”
Over the past 27 years, EMC has grown to become Canada's largest manufacturing consortium. It is an inclusive and diverse not-for-profit organization supporting the growth and success of its members. EMC is responsible for contributing knowledge, expertise and resources to Canadian manufacturers.
By teaming up with organizations such as EMC, BDC builds a community of partners. It's an opportunity to increase our reach and impact by improving access to tailored financing and advisory services, expertise, and knowledge.
This reflects our mission as a development bank to support Canadian entrepreneurs to build strong and resilient businesses and, in doing so, contribute to creating a more prosperous, competitive and inclusive Canada.
