A best practice sharing event success story

Atlantic Canada Manufacturers Share Syspro Best Practices

Integrating an ERP system to support business activity is not an easy task but, once you’re there, the value it can provide is worth the effort. Many Atlantic Canada manufacturers are at some stage of working with Syspro and asked for an opportunity to network and benchmark. Through this initial ‘best practice ‘sharing and networking event, participants had an opportunity to develop valuable peer networks.

Many manufacturers in Atlantic Canada (and beyond) use Syspro as their resource management system and, like any ERP system, implementation and effective use can be a challenge.

In a recent EMC event, member companies Malley Industries of Moncton, NB and Surrette Battery of Amherst, NS presented their best practices, challenges and goals. It was an opportunity for participants to benchmark and contribute to open discussion regarding implementation in their facilities.

There is no greater opportunity for learning than through seeing the progress and practices of others. Through this event, a peer network was established as a valuable resource moving forward.

Throughout the event, the following dynamics of Syspro were discussed:

  • Syspro 8 upgrade challenges
  • ABC bar code scanning vs QR code use & hardware required
  • Supply & demand reporting structure for bought out and made in items
  • Media file integration
  • Product configuration sales tool strategy
  • Back flushing pit falls
  • Linking sales orders to work orders – due date challenges
  • Cycle counting vs physical inventory accuracy
  • Raw material lot tracking

Was it a valuable session resource for participants? The event closed with on final question; ‘Can we do this again?’

Our sincere thanks to Myles Malley and Jason Smith - as well as the participants - for sharing. It couldn’t happen without you!
