A Delegation in Washington

Ensuring CUSMA Continues to Deliver Economic Growth

This week, EMC President, JP Giroux, joined the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s trade delegation in Washington to help advance priorities critical to Canada’s manufacturing sector and the strength of our shared trilateral trade agreement.

Stable, reliable, rules-based trade is foundational to North America’s manufacturing ecosystem. Alongside leaders from the Ontario government and key sectors—including energy, life sciences, manufacturing, agriculture, and forestry—discussions focused on strengthening supply chains, protecting jobs, and ensuring CUSMA continues to deliver economic growth and resilience across borders.

The delegation engaged with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, American industry leaders, and both Republican and Democratic Senators on Capitol Hill, reinforcing the importance of cross-border collaboration and aligned economic priorities.

We were pleased to be joined by Ontario Agent-General David W. Paterson and his team at the Canadian Embassy, as well as the Hon. Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines. The group also had the opportunity to meet with newly appointed Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Mark Wiseman, to discuss CUSMA and evolving tariff considerations.

Thank you to the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for organizing this important delegation, and to Minister Lecce, David W. Paterson, and Ambassador Wiseman for their leadership and collaboration in these meaningful discussions.
