Transition to Producer Responsibility

Understanding Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation

As of July 1, 2023, when municipalities and First Nation communities in Ontario start transitioning their Blue Box programs to collection under the Blue Box Regulation, Blue Box producers will become fully accountable and financially responsible for collecting and recycling their materials when consumers discard them. Blue Box materials include: product packaging, paper products or packaging-like products. If you are a Canadian manufacturer whose products are supplied to consumers in Ontario, you should attend this session to find out how the new regulations apply to you and what your obligations are.
