12:30 – Our Manufacturing Journey – Presented by Steve Bonham, Site General Manager, Teledyne MEMS Edmonton
Teledyne MEMS is a homegrown success story. Founded in 1982 as the Alberta Microelectronic Centre (AMC), it was established as a government-supported initiative to foster microelectronics research and development in Canada. In the late 1990s, the company evolved into the private company Micralyne. The modular manufacturing approach to MEMS design allowed for semi-custom device implementation, reducing the need for bespoke fabrication processes for each new product. This flexibility helped the company serve a wide range of industries, including biotech, telecommunications, and industrial sensing. Micralyne was acquired by Teledyne in 2019.
