Investigating Learning Styles in Manufacturing

Manufacturers are creating and expanding their training programs for their workforce in response to changing industry demands, technological innovations, and a need for a skilled workforce. Standard training methods may not effectively address diverse learning needs, potentially affecting skill development and career progression.

This session is the second of a four-part series which specifically explores how understanding and leveraging individual learning styles can support employee career progression, skill development, and long-term retention. Attendees will gain strategies to foster professional growth, build leadership from within, and create a culture that encourages career ownership. Key topics will include career advancement in manufacturing, retention strategies through mentorship and coaching tailored to different learn, and cultivating internal leadership through personalized development paths.

About our Guest Speaker: James Demers (He/him) is a licensed skilled trade carpenter who then changed careers to become a diversity educator and workplace consultant – with 15 years of experience helping organizations create inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplaces. He has supported teams in employee engagement, leadership development, and accessibility strategies. With a strong focus on workplace culture and diverse learning styles, James designs practical, interactive, and adaptable training that meets the needs of diverse teams. He has led initiatives on policy development, equity frameworks, and inclusive leadership, ensuring organizations foster environments where all employees can thrive. Based in Treaty 7 Territory (Mo’kinsis), James is committed to removing barriers, improving accessibility, and enhancing employee experiences through education, strategic planning, and organizational change.
