Senior Finance Manager

Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium is presently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting and Finance team member to join our Finance team.
The Senior Finance Manager will work directly with and report to the Vice President – Finance. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of our financial records and supporting our day-to-day accounting operations.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in applying their skills within the not-for-profit sector. Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes
- Establish and maintain internal controls
- Managing or assisting with both internal and external audits
- Creation and monitoring Budgets and Forecast reports for projects including reporting to government on a quarterly basis
- Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls
- Managing or assisting with both internal and external audits
- Preparing detailed reports on audit outcomes and providing recommendations to improve accounting and management practices within the company
- Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Contract Management for vendor and service provider agreements for reporting and billing requirements
- Researching accounting issues where necessary for compliance with generally accepted compliance principles
- Providing leadership, training, and development to finance and accounting staff
- Overseeing and assisting with payroll functions
- Other Financial and Administrative functions as required
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- College diploma or associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Critical thinking skills and attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge and ability to adhere to accounting rules, standards, principles and internal control procedures
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Simply Accounting, Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Government Funding experience, an asset.
- Budget and Financial forecast experience, an asset.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
