Manufacturing Engagement Specialist
In this role, you will play a key role in:
- Helping manufacturers improve productivity and operational performance
- Supporting businesses in growing, scaling, and entering new markets
- Increasing industry participation in programs that drive competitiveness and innovation
- Strengthening connections across BC’s manufacturing ecosystem
This role will help EMC launch a new initiative in British Columbia to strengthen manufacturers’ competitiveness through operational excellence and business growth. This includes engaging manufacturers in discussions around operational efficiency, productivity improvement, and waste reduction; while connecting them to Lean and continuous improvement supports that enhance performance. The initiative also supports manufacturers in export development, market expansion, and scaling operations, helping them better compete in domestic and global markets.
Location
- Based in British Columbia, with preference for candidates located in the Lower Mainland
- This role requires frequent travel across the province (30–50%) to engage manufacturers and attend events
Responsibilities
- Actively engage and recruit manufacturing companies across British Columbia to participate in project activities,
- Conduct on-site visits, virtual meetings, and ongoing outreach to understand operational challenges and growth priorities,
- Engage manufacturers in discussions related to operational efficiency, workforce needs, productivity improvement, waste reduction, lean and continuous improvement, export development and market expansion,
- Develop and execute outreach strategies that position the initiative as a solution for improving performance and supporting business growth,
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of engaged employers across regions,
- Serve as a trusted point of contact, connecting manufacturers to EMC programs, services, and partners,
- Track and report on engagement metrics and participation targets aligned with project objectives,
- Represent EMC at industry events, trade shows, plant tours, and networking sessions,
- Plan and coordinate engagement activities, workshops, and information sessions,
- Maintain accurate records of all engagement activities using CRM tools,
- Coordinate project activities, timelines, and deliverables,
- Collaborate with EMC teams to ensure alignment and continuous improvement,
- Build relationships with industry associations and economic development organizations,
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry in production, management, or business development roles,
- Experience working directly with manufacturers or in industrial environments,
- Experience in project management considered as an asset,
- Experience coordinating projects, events, or programs,
- Ability to engage manufacturing leaders (owners, plant managers, supervisors),
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills,
- Ability to translate program offerings into clear business value (productivity, efficiency, growth),
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently,
- Located in BC Lower Mainland,
- Legally able to work in Canada.
Physical Demands & Conditions:
- Combination of in-the-field work (including onsite meetings, event facilitation and in-person visits with manufacturers) and office administrative work.
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
