Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC)—a unique, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping Canada’s manufacturers grow and become more competitive at home and abroad—is seeking a contract Project Coordinator for our WILWorks Post Secondary Program, funded by the Government of Canada and other industry programs.

Since 2020, WILWorks has provided Canadian manufacturing employers, particularly small and medium-sized organizations, with over $32 million to hire more than 5,000 students for work-integrated learning co-op placements. For employers, WILWorks Post Secondary Program provides the means to identify and connect with future talent. For students, placements create awareness of careers in manufacturing, offer valuable work experience, and provide a pathway to meaningful employment in the manufacturing sector after graduation.

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Initiatives, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating the WILWorks Post Secondary Program.

What you will do:

  • Plan, implement and coordinate the WILWorks Post Secondary Program each year and Fall, Winter and Summer term semesters.
  • Collaborate with EMC’s Project, Marketing and Learning Centre teams and Manufacturing Consortium Managers (MCMs) to actively recruit, engage and support employers.
  • Provide daily customer service to Canadian manufacturers, educating them about and facilitating participation in the program, including communicating program details and assisting with access to the online application platform for employers.
  • Reviewing funding applications/placements.
  • Conducting regular follow-ups with participating employers and students to assess work placement experience and Program improvement opportunities.
  • Working with the online application platform partner (Magnet) to update and maintain the platform regularly.
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders (post-secondary institutions, co-op offices, community organizations, economic development agencies, etc.).
  • Coordinate and/or participate in in-person and online events to promote the WILWorks Program.
  • Actively explore and pursue new partnerships and opportunities to enhance the program.
  • Track and report program metrics, providing regular updates to management.
  • Prepare written project and status reports.
  • Provide administrative support and maintenance of all Program records, documentation, and data.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination/management.
  • Experience working with post-secondary co-op, work-integrated learning, or experiential learning programs is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability to engage and network with diverse stakeholders.
  • Technical proficiencies, particularly with online applications and emerging technology.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Education, Human Resources, or a related discipline preferred; relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
  • Must be able to work from 8 am to 4 pm EST.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally, as required.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to pass a criminal record check.
  • Remote working flexibility.
  • A supportive and inclusive team environment focused on professional growth.
  • Opportunity to directly contribute to Canada’s manufacturing industry and workforce development, creating meaningful career pathways for youth/students.
