Energy & Green Manufacturing Manager/Specialist

The Energy & Green Manufacturing Manager/Specialist will help lead and support the advancement of energy, sustainability, green manufacturing and clean technology adoption programs for EMC members and Canada’s manufacturing sector.

Working with the Vice President, Manufacturing Sector Performance, this vital role will facilitate EMC’s GreenMFG Network and Energy & Green Consortium, delivering programs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and awareness-building activities to help manufacturers enhance their capabilities and energy / sustainability effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Management and Facilitation

  • Support effective facilitation and growth of EMC’s energy and green consortium programs, events and resources.
  • Engage subject-matter-expert speakers, clean technology providers, and industry leaders to share insights and raise awareness about actionable best practices.
  • Coordinate and manage event engagement and delivery, ensuring successful execution of EMC’s Energy & Green Consortium events.
  • Manage related event delivery, including preparation of event agendas, live polls, subject-matter / speaker coordination, invitations, live event delivery needs, post-event materials, and follow-up reports (per EMC KPI’s) for internal and external use.

2. Communications and Content Work in Collaboration with EMC's Marketing & Communications Team to ...

  • Develop clear and impactful communication for EMC’s Energy & Green Consortium initiatives, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Write and edit communication materials, including program outlines, related event communications, press releases, case studies and blog posts.
  • Create digital content for websites, social media, newsletters, and email campaigns.
  • Ensure effective promotion of related events and initiatives, needed to maximize participation and engagement.

3. Stakeholder Engagement and Development

  • Support manufacturing engagement for EMC’s Energy & Green Consortium initiatives, including communication, data collection, scheduling and tracking.
  • Maintain and develop energy and green manufacturing resources, online tools, and published materials.
  • Act as a liaison between participants, EMC, subject-matter experts, and partners, facilitating introductions and resource sharing.

4. Research and Analysis

  • Assist with development and use of diagnostic and assessment tools for benchmarking energy, water, and GHG metrics.
  • Help identify energy and green skills gaps, retrofit opportunities and industry challenges.
  • Facilitate consultations, surveys, and focus groups to gather industry intelligence and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop case studies highlighting successes and challenges in sustainability and clean technology adoption.

5. Digital Presence and Analytics

  • Maintain and enhance EMC’s Energy & Green Consortium digital resources, including case studies, reports and toolkits.
  • Track and analyze engagement metrics, event attendance, and communication effectiveness, utilizing EMC’s CRM system.

6. Growth and Awareness Building

  • Support EMC’s mission to help manufacturers to ‘do more with a smaller carbon footprint’, through energy management, clean technology adoption, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Simplify complex energy and sustainability concepts for manufacturers, through storytelling and awareness campaigns.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Energy, Environmental Studies, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years’ experience in related communications, program/project management or public relations.
  • Experience in event facilitation, promotion and industry engagement.
  • Knowledge of energy, sustainability, and manufacturing sectors is an asset.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project / program management and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, CRM tools, and digital marketing platforms.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate energy and sustainability concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Bilingual fluency is an asset

Occasional travel will be required.
